Beware of False Prophets
âBeware of false prophets, who come to you in sheepâs clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolvesâ (Matt. 7:15). Deceit has its strength in masquerading as the truth. False prophets speak a vision of their own heart, not from the mouth of the Lord (Jer. 23:16â29). They deny the judgment of the Lord, speaking peace to the unrepentant, when in truth there is condemnation and wrath. âYou will recognize them by their fruitsâ (Matt. 7:20). The âfruitsâ of a true prophet are not outward righteousness or success but faithfulness in proclaiming the Word of the Lord. This is the will of the Father in heaven, that pastors take heed to the flock, the Fatherâs adopted ones (Rom. 8:12â17), warning them against the wolves and their lies, and shepherding the Church of God which He purchased with His own blood (Acts 20:27â38). For indeed, the cross is that good tree bearing good fruitânamely, the body and blood of Christ, given and shed for you for the forgiveness of sins.

YPI Planning Meeting – YPI families are invited to a pool party / planning event on Thursday, August 3rd at the Wineinger home from 12pm – 3pm. We will have lunch, the kids can swim, and the adults will discuss our goals for the YPI group and begin planning the youth events for the 2023 – 2024 school year. We are excited to help this group of young people grow in their faith and build their friendships within the church community. Bring swimsuits, towels and a snack to share! Didache – Interested in learning more about the essentials of Lutheran doctrine and practice? Pastor will begin a new series of instruction classes beginning in August on Sundays at 3:00pm. Both members and guests are invited to attend, with guests having the opportunity to become communicant members upon completion. (Note: in September we will continue but with a different regular time, according to the availability of regular August attendees).
