The Sunday of the One Thankful Leper
Lawrence TideĀ – Trinity XIV

The Cry of Faith: Lord, Have Mercy
The ten lepers cried out from a distance, āJesus, Master, have mercy on us!ā (Luke 17:11ā19). Their condition cut them off from God and others. So also do the works of the flesh cut us off from God and others. āThose who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of Godā (Gal. 5:16ā24). Thus we cry out with the lepers, āLord, have mercy; Christ, have mercy; Lord, have mercy,ā eagerly seeking His good gifts. Jesus said to the lepers, āGo and show yourselves to the priests.ā And as they went, they were cleansed. So too, we walk by faith and not by sight, being confident of Jesusā help before we see any evidence of it, trusting that Jesusā cleansing words of forgiveness will restore us to wholeness in the resurrection. Let us be as the one leper who returned to the true High Priest to give Him thanks and glory. For Jesus bore our infirmities in His sacrifice at Calvary. His words are life to those who find them, and health to all their flesh (Prov. 4:10ā23).

Catechesis 2024: Learning by HeartĀ Beginning September 11th at 5:45pm and every Wednesday thereafter, we invite all young learners of the congregation (particularly ages 5 and up) and their parents for an hour of worship and catechesis! We will particularly work together to learn by heart the six chief parts of the Catechism. Have you already attended catechesis in the past? Feel free to join for a refresher! Depending on interest, we may add dinner in future weeks at 5 or 5:15. Contact Pastor for more details.
Secret PalsĀ We will soon begin our youth catechesis class for the 2024-2025 school year and we are looking for Secret Pal volunteers for our new catechumens. Both men and women are encouraged to participate. Please contact the church office at stacy.gibbens@ielcth.org or call 812-232-4972 for further details.
Campus Ministry Bible Study/Dinner Our campus ministry will be starting up on Tuesdays beginning September 10 at 5:30 pm.Ā All college students are welcome to attend.Ā We are excited to continue this tradition of welcoming college students here at Immanuel!Ā Members, please check the bulletin board to sign up to bring a meal.
Volunteers Needed: We are starting to gather the choir together for the Fall. The exciting news is that that Doug Sperry will be assisting us with our weekly practices! Schedules are busy with few of us able to attend practice every week, so we need more singers to help out when they are able! The tentative rehearsal time for this year is on Thursday evenings from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. On Sundays when the choir sings during Divine Service, we will meet in the Loft at 10:00 am.Ā If you would like to join us or have any questions, please contact Colleen Davis at 812-878-1145, text or call, or email colleen.davis@indstate.edu.
